Days 10, 11, and 12

I just need to start today's post with how low I'm feeling. I don't normally like to express my sadness on my blog unless it's something like missing my hubby or similar thoughts. Today, unfortunately, it's a little more. I found out that a job that I was really thinking I got was a scam. They wanted my credit score which should've been a red flag immediately, but for someone who is desperate for a job I didn't look deep enough so now I'm back to the beginning. Lesson learned and please DON'T make the same mistake I did! Quade still has until Friday until he comes back from Little Rock, Arkansas so his being so far away isn't helping. Rowdy is at least feeling better which is a silver lining in the dark clouds right now. I'm going to my friend Christa's tonight to watch the finale of Bachelor Pad so I'm trying to keep my mind on that. I'm sorry I just had to vent a little before catching up (again) on Katie's blog challenge.

Day 10: Special Someone

I met Quade back in July 2006 when I started working for KTEX radio station in my hometown. He likes to tell people now that when we met he "trained" me because that's really exactly what he did...at work. :)  We spent the next 5 months flirting if we were working the same night and slowly becoming friends. I bumped into him one night at the Texas Hall of Fame when I was out with some friends and he asked me to dance. When the dance was over, he told me I could find him later and we'd dance again. I got brave and went looking for him later, only to find him with a different dance partner for the next several songs and got turned off. Thank goodness that's not how the story ends though...fast forward to our annual work Christmas party. Technically, he had a date but it was his best friend from work and he told me she forced him to be her date. We pretty much never left each other's side all night. Maybe it was the liquid encouragement and maybe not, but at the end of the night he asked if I would want to go to the Hall with him to see Reckless Kelly that coming Wednesday and I told him sure and to just give me a call. What I didn't find out until much later was that night after the party I had told him I had to go up to the station to finish some work. I didn't realize until I got in my car that I needed gas. I started driving toward the gas station first before going to the radio station and I noticed he drove toward the radio station. He had told his "date" that he forgot his schedule at work so he could ask me for my phone number. Well, I wasn't there, of course, so Wednesday rolls around he uses the work phone list to call me. I thought he was so cute when he apologized that he had used the work phone list to get my number. I was just thrilled that he hadn't changed his mind and was calling to ask me! That night we had a blast! I loved meeting his friends, but most of all, I loved the way he reacted to me telling him that I had rheumatoid arthritis. I fell for him the moment he made sure I always had a place to sit so I wasn't in pain. The following almost 3 years we made our relationship official, I met his family, we fell deeper and deeper in love, and on October 19, 2009, he asked me to marry him. Yesterday marked 3 months that we've been married and I love him more today than I did when I fell for him on that very first date!! :D

Day 11: Fears

Right now, my worst fear is not being able to get a job. The main reason my hubby keeps travelling is so we have extra money until I can get a job. I want him to stop leaving so I keep blaming myself that I'm the reason he has to go.

Another fear I have is thunderstorms at night. During the day I love them, but the loud clapping thunder when I'm trying to sleep gets me every time. I've gotten a little better over the years, but not completely.

My last and most nagging fear is always having rheumatoid arthritis for the rest of my life. I know there is big chance that this will happen, but I also know that God is the Great Physician and He can heal me at any time. I will never stop praying that He would heal me.

Day 12: Goals

My main goal is also my first fear which would be to get a job very soon. I really need a part time, office job so I can stay off my feet as much as possible and make just enough money to keep my SSI disability money every month and my Medicare.

I want to continue to be the best wife I can possibly be which would be the Proverbs 31 wife. It's the type of wife that I need to live up to and become.

I want to find a new medicine that will help the increased pain that I've been having in my joints lately. Tomorrow I go back to a medicine that I've tried before that they've revamped so I'm praying that it will do the trick.

Last and most important, I want to be the kind of follower that Christ wants me to be. One that desires to live out His will every day and share His word with friends, family, and anyone who does not know Jesus as their personal Savior. I may be down in my life right now, but I know will Christ all things are possible and He WILL take care of all my needs (Philippians 4:13-19).

Catching Up Again: Days 6, 7, and 8

I really feel bad that I haven't kept up on the 30 day challenge like I have wanted to, but a lot has gone on in the last few days. My hubby ended up being asked to go out of state for work again and this time to Little Rock, Arkansas for a week and a half. :( I was excited because that's only about a 7 and a half hours drive from here so I was going to load up Rowdy on Friday and go. Well, yesterday I discovered that Rowdy has worms so I had to take him to the vet and he was treated, got his first shots, and ended up with ear mites as well. So very sad day for Rowdy and now I can't go to see hubby in Arkansas. I am looking forward to going out to dinner with my old roommates when I was at A&M tonight and my sister is coming to see me. At least Quade will be back next Friday instead of another 3 week trip.

Day 7: Favorite Vacation

NASHVILLE!!!

I fell in love with this town the first time my parents took me! Since then we've been back many more times. Here's my favorite things to do in Nashville!

Country Music Hall of Fame

Ryman Auditorium

Gaylord Opryland Resort and Hotel..Best hotel in town!!

Just look at the inside!
And you have to go at Christmas time.....

Day 8: Friends
I guess the same goes for everyone when I say that I've had friends who have come and gone. Some have even come back and we're stronger than before. Below are some of the greatest friends a girl could ask for!!

Left to right: Christa, Tricia, Courtney (sister), me, Kayla, Bonnie, and Katie

Tricia and Glenn then Crystal and Mark are father down. Both started out good friends of Quades and now are mine too. They were they ones who invited me to Schlitterbahn when hubby was out of town the first time. :)

Sarah and Kevin are Quade and I's probably closest friends combined. Kevin was his best man and I know Sarah would drop anything to help me or any friend in need. It's always great having other married friends to do things together!!

My friend Alysha is from Canada. We met when we were 13 on a cruise and we've kept contact ever since. I was so grateful she flew to Texas just for my wedding!

Childhood friends still closer than ever. Tricia, Kayla, Lindsey, and I have lost touch and come back together many times, but my wedding showed that we'll always be best friends! :)

Hope I can stay caught up now!

Top 2 Tuesday

Today's topic is CELEBRITY HAIRSTYLES!!

This was a pretty easy post for me since I've been looking for hairstyles for my upcoming bridal pictures!

Here's the inspiration I'm going for...

CARRIE UNDERWOOD

Her hair is always so prefect and the blonde color is very close to mine. I really love this style!!! It's very elegant and the bump on top would really add the extra height to my short 5 foot self that I need!!

EVA LONGORIA

She is sooooo sexy and whether it's short or long Eva's hair is always so beautiful! This style is a little more simple yet wavy which I really like too!

OH AND SOME GREAT NEWS......

OUR HONEYMOON IS OFFICIALLY PAID OFF!!!!!!!!!!

My dad shocked me today too when we were talking about the Mayan ruin excursion we want to do in Cozumel and............he's paying for it as a gift us!! I love my daddy!!!

HAVE A GREAT REST OF THE WEEK!!!

Why I'm Excited It's March!!

First, I'll start by giving a late weekend recap..Friday I spent all day getting ready for Saturday which was our engagement picture day!! I got my nails done, hair done, spray tan...the works!! I was so excited!!

Saturday morning rolls around and it's foggy and cloudy. I kept hoping by the time we finished our pre-marital counseling that the skys would clear up but it just started to get worse. :( By the time it was time to meet at the George Bush Library for our first round of pictures it had started sprinkling. We still took some pictures until the rain started getting harder. We changed location ideas and went to the historic La Salle Hotel in downtown Bryan for some indoor pictures. My hair was starting to fall and especially when we took some shots outside, we finally had to call it quits. Thomas and Erika were so nice and apologetic and were happy to reschedule the rest of our pictures in a few weeks. They were excited about several pictures and they said they should be posted soon so I can share with all of you!

NOW....Why I'm excited it's MARCH!!

1. MY 24TH BIRTHDAY!

Man, I would love this cake!!

It's also my Mom's (March 3rd) and my sister's (March 25th) birthdays!!

2. Bachelor Finale on my birthday!!

Most awesome present would be....

EMILY WINNING!!!!

(and a finale watching birthday party!)

3. Bluebonnets and Bridals!! :)

I'll be taking my bridals once the bluebonnets come out..which is what I've always wanted to do!

4. Pay off our honeymoon!

What our suite should kinda look like ;)

Less Than 5 Months and Finally Meeting with the Florist!!

Hope everyone had a great holiday season and it's turning out to be a great New Year!!!

I certainly had planned on posting more over the holidays but unforunately my family, finace', and I were sick for most of it so I didn't feel like doing much of anything. Guess it was a good thing that we didn't have any special holiday plans. We were able to go to my church's social for New Year's Eve which was nice. Definitely look forward to being a married woman for next New Year's and we talked about doing a party :) so that excites me!

Wedding planning has PICKED BACK UP...FULL SWING!! So far not too stressful but soon it will be I'm sure. Today we are meeting with probably my favorite person for the wedding, the florist!! I have never been one of those girls who has her whole wedding planned BUT I have always known that I would have beautiful flowers.

This is something I've been considering just because I love tall centerpieces and I LOVE roses!! I'm thinking she'll have something better in her books she's bringing with her, but I wanted to have an idea for her to see what I'm interested in.

Last weekend my mom, sister, and I went to the Bridal Extravaganza in Houston and had a blast!! Next posting I'll have my pictures uploaded to my computer so I can show you. Awesome thing was I won crystal champagne flutes from Celebrity China and Crystal and Quade and I are going to Houston tonight to pick them up!! In addition to the champagne flutes, we also won a 3 day 2 night stay in a first class hotel that we will find out more about tonight!!

Tomorrow, we're going to Al's Formal Wear and set up our tux rental for my husband-to-be, groomsmen, and ushers!

Hope everyone has a wonderful and blessed weekend!!

Almost 6 months!!

This Saturday is 6 months until our wedding day!! Hard to believe we've been engaged for well over a year now. We had gotten so much done early on that for a while we've been able to relax and focus on recover from surgeries. Now that we are hitting the 6 month mark it's time to get back into planning mode. The thing I'm stressing about most is flowers and decorations. Everything from centerpieces to bouquets for flowers and lighting and table set up for decorations!

So I decided for this post to get y'alls input on some of the bouquets that I'm looking at for myself and my bridesmaids. I was thinking of having the bridesmaids bouquets different from mine, but I'm not sure yet.

I've said before my colors are maroon, black, and white....being a hardcore Aggie :) ..... so I want maroon and white in the bouquet somewhere and the bridesmaids dresses are maroon/chianti and black.

So what do y'all think?

"How Would You Rate Your Pain On the Pain Scale?"

So I've had this question asked a lot at therapy and I always pick a number that is better than it actually is because I HATE people knowing that I am in pain. It's been a tough couple of days mainly because I am having pain drug withdrawals as I come off of them more and more!! It's good because I need to get off of them as bad as they are for me to be on as long as I have. My moods have been so up and down and I know my family is ready for me to be completely off of them!! I feel bad for them, but sadly I've been feeling more sorry for myself. :( As selfish as I know that sounds it is the truth...it's just that nobody actually knows.

On a better note...we are almost halfway paid for our Carnival cruise honeymoon!!! We were going to downgrade from the huge suite that is a lot more than we should be paying for, but Quade went on ahead and booked the one that exceeded our desires. Besides, you only have one honeymoon..at least that's the way I am going to keep it! We will be going to Montego Bay, Jamaica; Cozumel, Mexico; and Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands on the Carnival Conquest!! We leave the day after the wedding and we only have to drive to Galveston that morning which is nothing for us. :D I actually went on this same exact cruise with my family 2 years ago and it was awesome!! I'm even more excited not just because it is my honeymoon ;) but because it will be Quade's first cruise! Plus, we will finally get to do the Mayan ruin excursion that I have been dying to go on every one of the 3 times I have been on a cruise to Cozumel with my family.

Have you been on a cruise before and if so where did you go?

Sunday Sermon, Giveaway Alert, and Wedding Shoes

I had to share what our sermon was Sunday morning because I feel it should be shared and I never want to forget it. We've been looking for a new pastor so when this visiting pastor taught this sermon yesterday he held my attention and made me wish he could be our pastor! The scripture referenced was Luke 10:38-42. The verses talk about Martha inviting Jesus into her home where she and her sister, Mary, lived. Martha was so busy trying to serve Jesus that when she found Mary sitting at Jesus' feet, she got angry and wanted Jesus to rebuke Mary. All Jesus could say was "Martha, Martha thou art anxious and troubled about many things: but one thing is needful: for Mary hath chosen the good part, which shall not be taken from her." The pastor then asked us, "Are you a Mary or a Martha?" I figured the "church" answer would be that we all need to be a Mary, but he surprised me by saying no that we needed to be both! I had never thought of that! It is important to have mixed desires of wanting to serve but still knowing when to stand still and listen. He closed with saying, "How do you think the story ended? Do you think Martha went back to the kitchen clamoring around?" He then said the "or" which is what I want to remember, because I agree. I think that Martha told Jesus, Hold on, let me go turn the hearth off," then came back and sat down next to Mary at Jesus' feet. This week, my goal is to balance the attitudes of Mary and Martha.
Today I discovered on Whitney's blog a great giveaway! Click here to check out the great prize that you can win! I own one of these Da Vinci bracelets and the charms are great! Also, check out her other posts!! I love her perspective on things.

I have been looking everywhere for the perfect wedding shoes. As some of you may know, I have rheumatoid arthritis so I've had a hard time finding a shoe that has a good heel that isn't too tall but enough to at least bring my tiny 5 foot self closer to my 6'1'' future hubby. So tell me what y'all think?

Hope y'all have a great week!!

Ben and Katie's Wedding and To Grandmother's House We Go

Friday night, Quade and I had a very special wedding to go. It was special because it was only for closest friends and family of our friends Katie and Ben! It was at the 7F Lodge in College Station and it was beautiful! I was worried for her since it had been raining earlier in the day and even though there is a small chapel, the ceremony takes place in outside in front of the chapel.

The family and bridesmaids walked down the small aisle to Josh Groban's "You Raise Me Up" and at the part when the music gets loudest and the chorus joins in near the end of the song the doors at the back flew open and the bride and father walked through. I swear it was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen! The groom was basically sobbing almost and the bride's lips were quivering as she mouthed "I love you" to him. I had tears pouring out of me at this point and again when they said their own personally written vows.

My face was bad enough Quade and I had to walk back to his truck for me to fix my make up again! Kinda embarassing!

Unfortunately, in our absence, we ended up having to get a table on the covered dance floor outside where the humidity was still horrible from the short rain shower they had before the wedding. The cakes were great and tasted even better!! Katie's mom is the cake baker that did theirs cakes and will be doing ours as well. Hers was a delicious white chocolate flavor that I will probably end up stealing (I'll ask her first) and his cake was regular chocolate that he designed himself with a golf theme. If you look close you'll see the golf items are in the shape of a "B" for Ben. I loved it!

The catering company they used for dinner was friends of ours who we will also be using since we told Katie about them and they are great and reasonable. The speeches were so sweet (cried again) and the DJ made everyone dance the night away!! I just hate that the heat/humidity was so bad and the wine selection was OK. You can see just how bad the heat/humidity was by how bad I look in the picture of me and Katie!

Sunday we FINALLY got to make the 3 hour drive to visit my Grandma to ask her husband if he would do the honor of marrying us. After my Grandpa died, my Grandma had been so used to being married (she was 18 when they married) that she got to know her pastor more and they were married about a year after my Grandpa's death. It was hard at first on us, but over time I have seen the care he has for her and the way Quade has bonded with him when they have visited together so it made sense to ask him to do the honors. We went to church with them and took them out to lunch after service at Lone Star Cafe which was some good home style cooking...and very yummy!! We drove back to their house after lunch and caught up on all that had been going on then officially asked. I knew Bro. Bob would probably tease about living that long, he really isn't that old, but after asking when the big day was he did said he would!! So, now we have a pastor!!!!

My dad is actually started to get involved!! YAYYYYYYY!!!!!! You would understand how BIGGGGG this is if you knew my dad like I do. We had a great talk when Quade left my house last night and even gave us a great idea for who we could use as a pre-marital counselor. :) Still having a hard time with trying to make him understand how important a good photographer and cake is, but he does always end with I want you to have a wonderful wedding day so I should still get what I want in the end!
