It's Been a While...So Here's What's New

I really thought when the holidays were over and things slowed down at my job that I'd be able to start blogging more. WRONG! I also figured there hasn't been anything super exciting going on in my life so why would anyone want to read about it. So here's what is new with me...

Quade and I are doing wonderful! We have officially completely paid off our 2nd anniversary cruise we will be going on June 9th to Key West and the Bahamas!! He even make a special reservation for our anniversary night in the steakhouse! We have been needing a vacation  for a long time now so I am very excited!!

We have now joined the church where I work after just "visiting" for over a year so that was an exciting step for us. Growing up, I was used to going to Sunday school first and the worship service was after, but now we've switched. We fell in love with the 2nd hour Sunday school class for Nearly wed/Newlywed couples which meant going to the Contemporary service rather than the Traditional. It's been an adjustment but a good one! Our Sunday school class is studying Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend's book Boundaries in Marriage and it has made such a difference in our marriage already!! It really helps being able to talk about the readings each week with our 3 teachers (we're the only couple as of recently sadly) and getting their perspective; Especially since we do not have close friends that live near us anymore. :(

I STRONGLY recommend this book to anyone who is thinking about marriage, newly married or married for many years!!

Well that's all for now! Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

It's Ok Thursdays!

Today, I'm linking up with Amber for "It's Ok" Thursdays! I haven't done it in a while, or any link up for that matter, so I figured today was a good day to get back to it.

Its Ok Thursdays

It's Ok...

-that I don't feel like doing anything at work today...I was up late last night caring for my poor sick puppy, Rowdy, so I'm exhausted!

-that I get aggravated with the returning college student's ignorant driving...it's been 2 years since I graduated so I do not fall into that category (and graduate students know better)!!

-that I feel like I could use a vacation, girls weekend, or just to sit in one of the chairs in the picture below for an HOUR...I've done nothing but go to work, clean when I get home, and deal with this ridiculously irritating Scabies skin infection so I think deserve one!

-that I am really excited about the predicted cold front coming in this weekend...even if it is just in the 80's that was be GREAT!!

-that I wish every week was only a 4 day work week like this week...it's been really nice thinking it's Wednesday when thankfully it's actually Thursday! Thank you, Labor Day!

- that I would love to just eat junk food tonight and do absolutely NOTHING...I've been eating pretty healthy lately so I think one unhealthy night wouldn't hurt.

-that I miss so many of my friends that live away from me and that I haven't seen to the point I could cry! :(

-that I am super stoked about the first Texas Aggie football game this weekend as part of the SEC!!  BTHO Florida!!

What are y'all "Ok" with today?

How My Life's Been Goin'

Seems every time I find the time to post it's months and months later!! Life's been treating me pretty well! I still love my job so much at the church. It keeps me busy most days and when I'm not I'm blessed to be able to play on Facebook or Pinterest as much as I want! Unfortunately, a lot of the people I work with have quit lately with great opportunities they've each found in different towns and ,sadly, the same goes for a lot of my friends. :( I'm so happy for everybody (really I AM) I've just been down a lot lately and I suppose in need of companionship. I love being married and am still very much blessed in love!! There are just many stresses that I'm sure my married readers can testify to and it gets tough. It would just help to have some girlfriends every so often to hang out with and I don't know where to begin to make some new ones since all mine seem to be moving away or are already far away. Have any of you been in my position and if so what did y'all do?

It'd also help to just get away for the weekend! Even though that's not exactly possible right now. My parents just got back from a LONG road trip through the West part of the countryside. They drove through New Mexico, Arizona, up along the California coastline. Heading back, they went through Nevada, went by the Grand Canyon, and made there way back to Texas after that. My dad was nice enough to text pictures of ALL the places he knew I would LOVE to see myself..wasn't that sweet of him. :-P

I am happy to say that I got a brand new car!!! It was time to trade in the ol' mustang and upgrade to something more my age!

What do ya think?!!

It's a Ford Edge SE 2013 and I am completely in love with it!! It's so roomy and quiet! It has more bells and whistles than I seriously know what to do with with. The Ford Sync system allows me to tell my car to call anybody through my phone, play a CD, radio, Sirius Satellite radio, or music even on my phone. Probably my favorite part, being so short and all, is how tall I feel when I drive! HA HA!! It makes the car payment that I'm still getting used to more worth it.

Guess that's all for now! Would love to hear what you all have been up to!

LONG Overdue Update!

Hello everybody!

It has been wayyyyyyyy too long since I posted last and a lot has happened that's good and some not so good.

In my last post I mentioned that I finally got a call about a job with the church I really wanted to work at and I did get it. :)

This job has been everything I had hoped for and more!! The people I work with are just absolutely wonderful and I can honestly say that I look forward to going to work each day! It's not too strenuous on me which is a big deal for my rheumatoid arthritis. We have even visited a few times on Sunday mornings and are seriously considering joining. We want to check out the Sunday school class first and then we'll make our final decision.

My hubby and I moved to a downstairs apartment which was very exciting. The not so exciting part is why we had to move. I found out a couple months ago that I would need to have my left ankle replaced. Some of you may remember that I had my right ankle replaced back in November 2010. Not only did I need a new left ankle, but I also had to have neck surgery the same day. I thank God that we found out before it could have turned into something more serious. The doctor said the vertebrae that were lose in my neck could have eventually severed my spinal cord and caused breathing problems and/or paralysis. So to say I was lucky is an understatement...God was truly looking out for me!! Both surgeries were done on February 6th and I have another 3 weeks to go in my ankle cast before I can start walking again and my neck is recovering very well.

Even though we just moved to our new apartment, Quade just found out from a woman that he works with that we may have the opportunity to move into an amazing townhome for a little more than what we are paying now!! It's 3 bedroom/3bathroom and completely updated. That's one extra bedroom and 2 extra bathrooms than what we have now.  There's also a pool and basketball and tennis courts which are terrific bonuses.

This isn't the exact one we may be getting, but they all look like this out front and I think they are just perfect!

Now that we are a two person income family and not just one, we could easily afford the bump in rent. We're just praying that this is something that God will bless us with and, if not, we know it's just not in His plan for us at this time.

Hope you all are doing wonderful and having a fantastic week and I'm going to do much better posting from now on. Oh and.....

HAPPY LEAP DAY!!!

Finally GOOD News, Great Music, and Weekend Update!!

Many of you have followed my last several posts about my job hunt being very unsuccessful and I'm happy to report that thanks to Kelly Services I've got my first temp job!!! My mom has been trying to get me to go to them for some assistance for a while now so yesterday I finally did. It took nearly 3 hours to complete all the paperwork, interview, and introduction information that they require, but it paid off! :) It's only a 3 day job as a front desk assistant at our local junior college, but at least it's something!

I've always waited until much closer to Thanksgiving to break down and start listening to Christmas music, BUT when Michael Buble' released his Christmas album on October 21st I decided I'd wait until after Halloween at least.

I've enjoyed it soooooo much so far! His voice is like sweet honey to my ears and oh so very sexy! Haha! I strongly recommend it!!

Another CD that I am really enjoying that was just released yesterday is Miranda Lambert's Four The Record!

I'm only about halfway through it, but I love every single song so far! I watched her perform on Regis and Kelly this morning and she looked and sounded so awesome!

Last weekend, my hubby and I made the 5 and a half hour drive to Louisiana to go visit my Grandma and Uncle. I hadn't seen my Grandma in nearly 5 years since she just moved back from living in Arkansas. Between school, my sister's hospitalization, and the wedding driving to Arkansas was just not a possibility. She's aging very quickly and health is unfortunately not very good so we're planning on visiting every couple months. She's in assisted living so we stayed in my Uncle's gorgeous house and spent some good quality time with him too. Saturday night, we met my cousin and er fiance' at a steakhouse and sushi restaurant that was so very delicious!! After dinner we went to the movies and saw In Time.

I really loved it and especially love when I can't guess the way I think the movie is going to end. We left to head back home after breakfast Sunday morning since we needed to come pick up Rowdy from my parents since they were gracious enough to watch him for us. :)

Have a great Wednesday!!

What a Week...

I know it's been a while since I have posted anything and that's mainly because there hasn't been anything exciting going on lately.

I've continued to try to stay strong in the job hunt after not getting the job that I was so hopeful for, but it's very hard. I know God has a plan for me and when it is His timing He will open the door that is meant for me. I just have to continue to pray and stay as optimistic as possible.

Wednesday morning, not long after Quade got to work, he was hurt while trying to move a wheel barrow and could barely move his neck without experiencing very sharp pains and kept having constant spasms. The secretary at his job called me to come pick him up and for several hours all he was told he could do was take aspirin. The nurse through his company's work comp told him he could finally go to the doctor after it was obvious he wasn't getting any better. We found out he got a terrible muscle strain in his neck and has to stay in a neck brace and take muscle relaxants and Hydrocodone until he can go back to the doctor next Wednesday, his BIRTHDAY of all days!! Good news is I have him all to myself until then, and he's still being paid to be home. BUT....he's just a big ol' baby on all those pain meds unfortunately. I enjoy being able to take care of him, but I am having to pray for extra patience while he is recovering.

My biggest prayer is that he will be better by next week because we are supposed to go visit my grandma in Louisiana next weekend and I would like for him to be pain free.

I can officially say I am completely addicted to Pinterest!! I am in love with so many of the ideas on there and I just wish I had more money and space to be able to put all this new inspiration to use! I definitely have the time, but I wish that was all I needed. Let me know if anyone would like an invite or if you'd like to follow each other! I'll end with a humorous pin I found on there today. :)

Hope everyone has a wonderful, safe, and blessed weekend!!!

Mission: Lunch

I've been so bad about posting since the 30 day challenge ended! I didn't even get to do the last day since we spent the day at my parents. :( Oh well. I still haven't heard anything on to job yet. I called yesterday to see if they needed anything else from me. I know they've been calling my references because when we went to church Sunday, one of the ones I put down got a call so I know there's hope!

Mission: Lunches For Hubby

So my newest hobby is to try to find some easy lunches that are OK for hubby to eat at room temp sometimes most of the time without him having a microwave nearby. He's usually on location most of the day so I try to stock his insulated lunch bag full of stuff so he doesn't get hungry. I know he is bound to be getting tired of turkey, ham, or roast beef sandwiches. So this is why I need your help ladies! :) I have found many delicious recipes on your blogs before so I know you can help me out! So far these sounds really good and just what I'm needing!!

Cheesy Roast Beef Wraps

BLT Wrap Sandwich

Parmesan Tuna Sandwiches
