Why Does Christmas Have To Be Over :(

I hope EVERYONE had a great Christmas! I gotta say it was wonderful to finally be engaged at such a magical time of the year for the first time. It made seeing each other's families together special in many ways and also not quite up to par in others. Christmas day my Grandma and her husband came then soon after my Aunt, Uncle, and cousins, Megan and Brandon, all came over to my house. Today, or now yesterday since it's so late, I got back from spending 3 full days with my future in laws. On the way there, Quade surprsied me with a digital camera! I had told him that's what I wanted, but I was still surprised he actually got one for me. I love it and have already put it to good use!

My new camera!

I bought his parents a relaxation set with a soft throw, eye mask, ear plugs, and neck rest along with a srong french vanilla candle. With all the hard work they put into caring for my future neice and nephew, I knew the gifts would probably be most appreciated. We bought the kiddos a big set of blocks that Kaid was already tearing into before we could all sit down to open presents together.

Quade's parents bought me all kinds of goodies! I got a beautiful turquoise necklace and matching earrings, another pair of dangly earrings with brown stones and aqua rhinestones in it. Also, a special gift from Victoria Secret, sweet pea frangrance gift set with lotion, shower gel and pink bath sponge, plus these adorable bunny slippers all from Bath and Body Works. I was very happy with my gifts!

Monday was the day we were going to come home, but they really wanted us to stay an extra day so we did so Quade could go deer hunting and I got more time with Brynn and Kaid. I got thrown up on by Kaid, but thankfully not much. Besides, I have to get used to it anyways if I'm going to be a elementary teacher so I'm glad I wasn't terribly grossed out. All in all it was a wonderful Christmas. Now, Quade and I are trying to make plans for New Years Eve since our traditional plans aren't going on this year. We shall see I guess!

WAY OVERDUE

I'M BACK! I cannot believe how long it has been since I last posted! Sooo much has happened and I will try to make it as quick but complete as possible. Biggest thing is..I GOT ENGAGED! Quade proposed to be on October 17th on the balcony of my apartment and of course I said yes just as quickly as I could. :)

After he popped the question and I was able to call my family, he took me to the greatest restaurant I have ever been to, Christopher's World Grille! It was so fancy and the food was the greatest I have ever had and that's including the 4 cruises that I have been on! We took pictures there with what I later discovered was a blurry lens so I'm trying to get them fixed. Here is one I found though! We had the corner booth..very intimate and romantic!

Now, I'm in the middle of wedding planning! We have set the date for June 11, 2011 so we have a good year and half to plan along with finishing college. I have found my dream dress! I will, warily, put it up because I'll have to make sure Quade never look on here. At least not this post.

Not only is it everything I ever wanted, but it is practically half off the original cost so I'm doing daddy proud by trying to save him money lol! Today and the rest of my Christmas break, I will be hopefully finalizing the reception location and getting price quotes for caterers and maybe decorations too. So far I'm loving every minute of it and just hoping I stay ahead so it stays that way. I'm just so ready to be Mrs. Michal Renee' DeBord!!

Over the summer, I got a total knee replacement done which has been one of the greatest decisions of my life. I'm hoping to get my other knee done next summer so I'll be jumping all over the place for my wedding! The physical therapy after was hard, but now looking back it was nothing compared to how great my knee feels now. Now, I've just got to get the rest of my joints feeling better. Tomorrow (Wednesday), I am getting two cortizone injections in both of my ankles and I am so dreading it. I had my right knee done last August and as great as it feels now, it was AWWWWFUUUULLL getting the shot. I'm almost 100% positive the ankle hurts much worse :( ...at least this time tomorrow night it'll be over.

A&M is still going good. I'm starting to feel burnt out on the whole college experience. It'll be 5 years in May since I started college at Blinn and that's with most summers! My grades are starting to be affected which is the worst part. I should be graduating in May but we'll see.

My sister, Courtney, is getting ready after the first of the year to be put on the transplant list for a new heart and both lungs. Slowly, over the course of this year, she has been getting worse and the heart catherization she had on December 11th confirmed what we have feared all her life. She's so strong and amazing, but I know scared at the same time. She is on oxygen now part of the time (should be all the time), but she hates to do it in front of friends or away from home so it doesn't get done as much as it should. When I think about the possibility of losing her I can't contain myself! So we won't dwell on that too much.. Most importantly though myself, Courtney, and my parents know that EVERYTHING is in God's hands and I believe that His plan is for her to have the life that she has always wanted..pain free, run for ever and ever, and really enjoy life for the first time.

Courtney and my dad
Well, guess that's all I'll write for now. I will stay more current from now on, because there really is so my going on in my life right now that I want to be able to share with you and I want to be able to look back on some day too. Until next time!

Excited about the weekend!!

Even though I still have classes today and tomorrow I'm already getting so excited about everything going on this weekend. Technically, the weekend won't start until after my Statistics class in the morning, but I am starting tonight when my baby comes here and we get to go dancing and see our friends at the Hall of Fame. I have been looking forward to going all week and especially since last week I couldn't go because of my Statistics test. Tomorrow is my good friend Christa's 22nd birthday and me and several of her friends are going to dinner and then more fun after! I know it's going to be a lot of fun and I love that we get to get all dressed up! Saturday is my Grandma's birthday and my family, Quade, and my sister's date are driving to Waco to meet my Aunt, Uncle, cousins, and cousin's boyfriend at a restaurant where my Grandma and her husband, she remarried, will be unsuspectingly waiting for us. So, yes, it is a surprise! I have a brand new shirt that is really pretty and I've been going tanning so I'll be looking good :) Unfortunately, I have 2 papers that have to be finished by the end of the day so I need to get them finished before I can finally enjoy myself.

Another weekend over

Every weekend that ends another week begins bringing the end of the semester SO close! Part of me is ready for the semester to be over and the other part of me that is worried about statistics wants more time. This past weekend was the Burton Cotton Gin Festival but with all the rain that we got it wouldn't have been much fun to go to. My town of Brenham got it worse than anybody around on Friday with a tornado that thankfully never touched down, but still caused plenty of damage.

These pictures show the Blockbuster sign that fell on someone's truck, Hartz chicken had their roof cave in and forced everyone to evacuate, and a portable buliding in the Lowe's paking lot was blown onto the highway. Definitely made life in my little town more eventful this weekend. Fortunately I got into town right after the worst had blown over. Saturday, Quade and I went to eat at an Italian restaurant in my small town of Brenham called the Colloseum which was great and we saw "17 Again" which was really cute! Now, it is going to be a crazy week and I am already wishing that it was over. Tomorrow night is the anuual Aggie Muster and it will be my first time to go as a student at Reed Arena. Former President of A&M Robert Gates will be there as the main speaker so I'm really excited! Just have to work really hard until then.

Getting Drained

With the semester coming closer and closer to the end it never fails that professors will pile on the major assignments at the end. I have been stressing and procrastinating..two things that I am a PRO at. If you could somehow make those two things into classes I would get easy A's. Statistics has been killing me and I badly need to do well on the last test before the final so I won't have to retake the class. My escape, thankfully, and addiction has been the Twilight series.

I thought that I was going to be the exception and not enjoy it as well as everyone else did but I caved in so bad that I read book two, New Moon, in less than 48 hours! That's 563 pages plus the first chapter of the third book that the author includes to get readers to immediately want to read the next book. It's going to be tough but I am forcing myself not to go buy the third book until finals are over. Good thing is I do get to use Twilight for a big project so it was beneficial in more ways than one. I am so happy the weekend is almost here. My sister is taking her state board test for court reporting again and hopefully she WILL pass this time. I'm excited this weekend is the Burton Cotton Gin Festival and Randy Rogers will be there Saturday night so I can't wait! Just a couple more days!

Little Disappointed :(

So...at the beginning of the week I was really hoping that two things would happen this week. One, last night I wanted Quade and I to go to the Hall of Fame to go dancing. I was so happy that my group presentation was over for my class and was definitely ready to go out when it was over. Unfortunately, my baby got sick and felt awful so we just watched movies. I couldn't be mad because he felt terrible he let me down, but swore that he would make it up to me. Second thing, I was reaalllyy hoping that we could go to Chilifest in Snook on Saturday. Well, we aren't going to be able to go for many reasons. We don't have the funds like I thought we did and also, really a good thing truthfully, Saturday is my "future brother-in-laws" prom that I had forgotten about. Now, we're working on being able to drive to Yoakum to see him off to his prom and also get to spend time with his family. Quade really needs to work on Saturday, but that all depends on how he feels tomorrow I guess. I just found out my parents are going away for the weekend so I may have to "babysit" my dog, Tex, since my sister, in my mother's words, won't do it. So, a lot could stand in the way of us being able to go and we will just have to see. I just hope Quade feels better most importantly and that my parents have a nice getaway, because they deserve it. I'll have the verdict when I blog next time...

Sad the weekend is over

It's been a nice weekend besides the cold. My sister turned 21 last Wednesday so Friday night she had a party at one of our favorite Mexican restauarnts in College Station, Abuelos. The food was great as it is usually as well as the drinks. Her idea after dinner was to have a roast in her honor, of course. Unfortunately the restaurant had not reserved the party room for us, like we had asked, so the party had to move to my apartment. My sister seemed to enjoy herself, but I'm not sure if it quite met her high expectations. Saturday, my dad's business had it's 20th anniversary Open House and it was my sister and I's job to serve sausage-on-a-stick to customers and be on hand for anything else. It was a successful event, but I was very happy when it was over. I was able to go home and rest a while before my boyfriend and I had dinner at Applebees then went to the movies to see Duplicity with Julia Roberts and Clive Owen. Definitely not the ending I was expecting (won't say anymore to keep from ruining it), but still a good movie. Today was very relaxing and nice except for my Lady Aggies losing to Arizona State and now cannot move on to the 'Elite 8' for the NCAA Championship. Now, I am just planning my week and about to complete a lesson plan for my partner and I's class unit assignment on 'the seasons.' Hope this is a more relaxing week then last week was. I want to be able to go to the Hall of Fame to go dancing with my honey Thursday night and maybe get to go to Chilifest this weekend in Snook. Keeping my fingers crossed!!

I Can Taste Spring Break

So much has happened and even though it is late at night I cannot sleep so here goes. Tomorrow my Spring Break officially starts and I could not be happier!! Saturday I turn 22 and my wonderful boyfriend and I are going to spend the day in Houston before going to his parents until Monday. It has been one of those weeks that I would absolutely love to forget, but I cannot and I will just have to learn from it. I felt like I had been cheated in a way by my observation school because I was only doing what I had been told to do all along and I ended up getting in trouble for it. Now, the worst is over, thankfully, and I just have to move on and make the most of it. I'm thrilled to have a week off to relax and I AM going to enjoy it! I finally have our camera's memory cleared so I should have birthday pictures. Well, I'm off to get some shut eye so tomorrow (technically today now) can get here sooner!

Sooo happy it's the weekend

After what's felt like a long, busy week, I was so happy when Friday got here! Didn't go out or do anything which suited me just fine because my honey and I just stayed in watched movies and ordered pizza (by the way, Hungry Howie's is awesome). Today is my friend Beth's 21st birthday, Happy Birthday Beth! So, Quade and I are going to her party at Stover Boy's Burger. I'm excited because I've never been but from the pictures they make HUGE burgers and they look really good. After dinner, everyone takes a break and goes home before going out to Northgate. Well she is turning 21 after all! So I'm definitely looking forward to it, but first I have to go meet with my ECHE 332 partner to work on a project. Hopefully, I'll have pictures tomorrow!!

Something Tells Me I'm Into Something Good

So, I finally got tempted into this. I have always GREATLY enjoyed journal writing for as long as I can remember, but blogging is something that I have been wanting to start. And now..thanks to my girl Christa I did it. After an awesome dinner tonight together I wanted to get right on it. I am an elementary education major at Texas A&M University. I have the greatest friends and family and an amazing boyfriend! So far I have really enjoyed my semester even though statistics is a real drag. Right now I am REALLY EXCITED about Spring Break because I am turning 22 and my boyfriend, Quade, and I are making some sweet plans that I cannot wait for! Just about 2 more weeks!! At least tomorrow the weekend starts...yay!
